TE 802: Reflection and Inquiry in Teaching Practice I
Instructor: Dr. Cheryl Rosen
This was a course I took during my internship/student teaching. During this course we focused on what literary instruction looks like in the classroom. We focused on book clubs which incorporate student choice into instruction. I created a realistic fiction unit plan where my students practiced discussion roles, used evidence from their novel to complete activities, and justify why their novel was realistic fiction.

TE 803: Professional Role & Teaching Practice II
Instructor: Janet Alleman
The was also a course during my internship/student teaching year. During this course I learned how to utilize big ideas and overarching unit questions. Our focus was to make the curriculum relevant to our students' lives. I created a social studies unit plan where the students were tour guides and researched countries in South America.
TE 804: Reflection and Inquiry in Teaching Practice II
Instructor: Dawnmarie Ezzo
This course also took place during my internship year, and I focused on science instruction in the classroom and how to develop backwards designed unit plans. This course focused on discussions in scientific classrooms and creating inquiry based units. During the course I created a unit plan based off the topic of weathering and erosion. My unit used the Grand Canyon as our focus question asking "How did the Grand Canyon form?" The students tested rocks, analyzed how the earth changes over time, and created images about what areas of the world would look like in the future.

TE 848: Writing Assessment and Instruction
Instructor: Amanda Smith
In this class my focus was writing instruction in the classroom. We not only studied ways to teach students how to write, but we practiced writing different genres and going through the editing process. I also created a blog for the unit where I analyzed the course readings. My focus was what my students look for in a prewriting strategy. During a realistic fiction writing unit, I had the students pick between two different strategies and say why that strategy was beneficial to them.

ED 800: Educational Inquiry
Instructor: Dr. Steven Weiland
This course focused on the development of education and the best practices of inquiry. During this course I analyzed individuals throughout history and their experience or impact on eduction. A few of the individuals were: John Dewey, Abraham Lincoln, and Vivian Paley. I analyzed how specific individuals and texts have an impact how we educate students today and what we could do to make education better.
TE 836: Awards and Classics in Children's Literature
Instructor: Dr. Laura Apol
This course asked me to question what makes award winning classic literature. I examined a variety of awards including the Caldecott Award, Newbery Award, Coretta Scott King Award, and Printz Award. I thought about why the winning books were selected and the patterns that emerged over time. I also critically analyze the classic Peter Pan, and thought about why this is considered classic children's literature.

EAD 801: Leadership and Organizational Development
Instructor: Dr. William Arnold
This course focused on the leadership role I can play in the development of my organization. I focused on a specific area in my organization that I felt I could contribute. I analyzed the structure of my school and what role I played in that structure. In my school teachers are moving away from collaborating with each other, and I focused on ways I could encourage collaboration among the teachers.

TE 843: Secondary Reading Assessment and Instruction
Instructor: Bevin Roue
This course I focused on incorporating my students' reading outside of school into the classroom. I created lessons that focused on the students being leaders in their own learning. During a realistic fiction unit, my students read a novel about a girl who overcame obstacles during World War II. My students looked at the sources they read outside of school for other individuals in the world who share the obstacles they overcame in their life.

ED 870: Capstone Course
Instructor: Dr. Matthew Koehler
This course required me to reflect on my Masters of Arts of Education program. I created a portfolio to showcase my experience and what I have learned throughout this program. It also asked me to reflect on my future goals and focus on my educational practices. Throughout this process I analyzed what I learned from specific courses and activities and how that has impacted my teaching in the classroom.
CEP 840: Policies, Practices, and Perspectives in Special Education
Instructor: Dr. Carol Sue Englert
This course showcased the different types of assistive technology, modifications, and accommodations for special education students. In this course I developed a blog where I posted about the different elements I learned to help all students be successful. In the end I created a Google Sites website where I published what I learned from the courses.
