I am passionate about both educating and leading teachers, and my energy and teaching style generates enthusiasm for learning. Throughout my career, I have cultivated adult learning experiences to provide teachers with skills and techniques to use in their classroom the very next day. Here are some samples of my work.
Cultivating Genius by Gholdy Mohammad
Our district's goal is to provide equity and access to all learners; therefore after I read the book Cultivating Genius, I knew the information presented resonated with our classrooms. I presented a course where I highlighted how the book lists ways to rethink learning to "cultivate genius" in all students. In this course, I focused on how teachers can design lessons utilizing the book's literacy framework: identity connection, skill application, intellect, and critical thinking. I have included samples slides from the presentation.

Mentor Text to Connect Reading & Writing Instruction
The goal of this course was to help teachers use mentor texts not only in their reading block, but also in their writing block. I created this course from hard and soft data including observations and conversations with teachers. In this professional development, I modeled how I would take one text and utilize it in a reading and writing focus. Included are sample slides from my course.

Modeling Shared Writing During the Writing Block
After meeting with a principal, I created this course to meet the specific needs of their building. The instructional focus of the year was enhancing writing instruction. Two components of the writing block, modeling and shared writing, were not being utilized in the building. In this course I defined the two components as well as modeled how to use them in the classroom. Teachers were given time to collaboratively plan with their grade level partners to incorporate those components in the classroom. Included are sample slides from my course.
