To Whom It May Concern,
I am pleased to present my resume to you for consideration for a position at your school. I am a graduate of the number one college of education, Michigan State University (U.S. News & World Report), and I am highly qualified to teach kindergarten through fifth grade in all content areas, as well as sixth through eighth grade language arts. I recently obtained my Masters of Arts in Education degree with a focus on Literacy Instruction. I am passionate and energetic about teaching, and I believe that my energy and teaching style generates enthusiasm for learning.
As a graduate of Michigan State University’s five-year teacher preparation program, I had the opportunity to experience a yearlong internship in sixth grade. During this time I was actively involved in all aspects of my students’ education and all teachers responsibilities including classroom management, parental communication, professional development, and conducting problem-solving team meetings for students. While developing standards-based lessons, I tailored my approach to the individual needs of my students by differentiating lessons.
Currently I am a 6th grade Language Arts Teacher at Frelinghuysen Middle School. During this time I taught differinated lessons focused on Readers and Writers Workshop. The techniques I used contributed to the growth of my students as shown in my Student Goal Objective and my Highly Effective rating through the Morris School District Rubric of Excellence. My teaching is student-focused, where I adapt my instruction to the individual needs of my students. In my classroom my students’ interests and abilities guide my instruction. Technology plays a vital role in my classroom through instruction, assessment, instructional activities, and communication with students outside the classroom.
As an educator, my goal is to show students that they have the ability to tackle any problem to which they set their minds. I give my students the skills to use the materials around them, from math manipulatives to encyclopedias on the Internet. My job as a teacher is to make the curriculum come alive for students. My goal is to help my students have the skills and tools needed to be productive members of our society. I show my students how the curriculum is related to their everyday lives and help them to thrive in the twenty-first century. In summary, my students are my passion, and my dedication to them is evident in my work.
I hope to bring my blend of diverse experiences, active classroom leadership, creativity, and love for teaching to your school. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss my experiences and qualifications in greater detail with you.
Sincerely,
Laura A. Leidy-Stauffer
